Dallas on TNT is a Ratings Winner on cable TV!
Hi y’all. I have been so busy recapping, analyzing and speculating about Dallas on TNT that I overlooked the great numbers just posted by TNT showing why the show was so quickly renewed for a second season, which begins in January. I’m a blog about words, not numbers. Hee hee. Nevertheless, below is the press announcement from the network touting the juicy stats the show brought in, giving the corporate types there reason to celebrate. Dallas is the #1 new cable drama (basic cable, I’m assuming) among adults 18 – 49 and adults 25 – 54 for the year-to-date. In marketing speak, that means the show draws desirable eyeballs to TNT. We Dallas fans don’t need fancy statistics to tell us we’re desirable but, hey, we need to celebrate along with TNT and thank them in a big way for giving Cynthia Cidre the chance to reboot this classic guilty pleasure for a whole new generation. TNT made it happen and that makes them a hero in my book. So without further ado, here’s the good ratings news from the kind PR folks at TNT.
TNT’s DALLAS Closes First Season with 4.3 Million Viewers
Dallas is cable’s #1 new drama with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 for the year-to-date. It also ranks right behind TNT’s Perception among cable’s top new series of the year-to-date among total viewers. Dallas joins The Closer, Rizzoli & Isles and Perception in giving TNT basic cable’s Top 4 most-watched scripted series this summer. TNT also claims four of the summer’s Top 5 dramas on basic cable among adults 25-54, with Dallas coming in third.
For its first season, Dallas averaged 4.5 million viewers in Live + Same Day delivery, with 1.4 million adults 18-49 and 1.8 million adults 25-54. Time-shifted viewing has lifted the series average to 6.4 million viewers, 2.2 million adults 18-49 and 2.7 million adults 25-54 in Live + 7 through the first six episodes.
